My friend, Melissa Barrington: 1970 - 2022

Last week, on Thursday 24th March 2022, my former primary school LSA, Mrs. Melissa Barrington (née Tidy) passed away after a long on and off battle with breast cancer.

To say she meant a lot to me would be an understatement, she was like a second mother to me. One of the kindest, sweetest, and most loving and caring, and beautiful human beings in the world. The Princess Diana of the school who always put the need of others before herself and never asked for anything in return. She was the first teacher to recognise my “talent” (at least that’s what she called it!) for singing and the first person to tell me I could sing when I was a student. She would see me singing in the playground and say to me: “You should be a pop star”. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now, and wouldn’t have gone on to achieve all I’ve achieved, had it not been for her and her belief in me. I will do my best to continue to make her proud and continue to honour her with every performance I give and every song I sing in the future, and I know she’ll be there in spirit shining down on me. She was, is and always will be my true inspiration. She is an angel whose spirit will continue to bless us all and whose light will continue to shine down on us all and guide us through our darkest times. My love and thoughts are with all her friends and family - her husband, Pete and her daughters, Millie and Daisy - and the whole of Holy Family Catholic Primary School. I’m proud to say she was my teacher, but even more proud to say she was my friend. I will forever miss her and cherish the times we spent together. I love you with all my heart, Melissa. Thank you for everything! May you finally find peace. May God bless and be with you, forever and always. We'll meet again one day in heaven. ❤ #AngelsBelongInHeaven
